The four piece band playing for the fun of it, Mad Dogs and an Englishman have been playing in Finland since 2003 and have clocked up an enormous number of performances. Occasionally, the band performs at public venues and has been very successful as a dynamic live act.

The band origins go back to bands such as Blues Affection in Finland and Angelheart in the UK where guitarist/singer Paul has played with some notable company in the London pubrock, theatre and party scene. In Helsinki, Paul runs a workshop for advanced rock guitar students. All the band members have years... and years... of professinal performance experience.

The band periodically changes or increases its format with other musicians to broaden the range of music performed. The band operates on an "at cost basis" to make it available to perform along with some of the best equipment in the industry at sensible prices.

We have played pubs and clubs in addition to major party venues in Helsinki and in other parts of the country. Among the pubs and public events we have played in Helsinki you may have seen us at: SirEino, Rafaello's Terrace, London Pub, Parnells, Svengi (Järvenpää), Puisto Blues Festival and of course, the Esplanadi stage along with other charity events.

The music

You can listen to it on one of our two cds and you can hear us by clicking on the pictures in this website. The music is good-time orientated, from soul to rock to blues, a lot of dance music that has had the audiences dancing all night, including classics from James Brown, the B52s (yes), Thin Lizzy, Rolling Stones, Manfred Mann, ZZ Top and a load of others.

Mad Dogs and an Englishman have one of the largest possible collections of equipment for a club and pub band with PA systems up to 5 kw and lighting according to the venue requirements. We have the small rigs for small venues and enough equipment to stage our own outdoor concert.  Whatever is needed for a venue, we supply. As this is an occupation of passion, we try to do the best with the best equipment at the cost of moving people and gear to venues.

The management

The band is managed by Interpress Oy which makes the process of engagement easy and effective, prices based on the coverage of cost of performing, being competitive for small and large venues acording to the type of performance required.
